What to expect: Coastal breezes waft through the open-air lobby of this relaxed all-inclusive resort, which caters largely to groups and families who enjoy the extensive array of activities and tours for all ages. Tropical landscaping and winding paths traverse the grounds, where guests will find two adult swimming pools, a kids' pool, and three tennis courts. The resort is located in the planned community of Playacar. Amenity highlights: Enjoying the tropical sun is easy at any of the hotel's three pools, one of which hosts daily games and contests. Alternatively, regular shuttles transport guests to the resort's beach club, 15 minutes away in Playa del Carmen, where lounge-chair service is provided by the staff of the Rusty Pelican Beach Bar.

Entertainment is the name of the game at Caribbean Village. The Jungle, the resort's nightclub (open to guests 18 and over) plays all types of music, and has a pool table and dance floor. Nightly live shows with musical themes, such as Mexican folklore, are staged at the open-air theater. The hotel's three pools include a large geometric main pool with two shallow children's areas, home to daily activities such as bingo, water volleyball, and aqua-aerobics; a round relaxation pool with shallow children's area; and a dedicated children's pool with two slides and a Mayan pyramid motif, adjacent to the Kids' Club. The Kids' Club provides a supervised activities program and playground for children ages 4–12. Guests can also take advantage of a variety of spa services (surcharge), from massages and hair braiding to manicures and pedicures.

The hotel's three pools include a main pool with daily activities and two shallow children's areas, a smaller round relaxation pool with no activities or music, and a children's pool with two slides. The hotel's beach club is on Playa del Carmen's main beach, and bustles with activity at all times. (Shuttle transportation to the beach club is provided every half-hour from morning until early evening.) The beach club has a snack bar and lounge-chair service. All non-motorized water sports—including windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, and Sunfish sailing—are included as part of the All-Inclusive rate. The resort also provides complimentary bicycles for guest use. There are three hard-surface tennis courts, two of which are lighted. The 18-hole Playacar Club de Golf course, across the street, is open to guests at an additional cost. Scooter/moped rentals, skydiving, and horseback riding are available within a 10-minute drive.
