Playa del Carmen is about 45 miles south of Cancún. Authorized taxis, buses, and rental cars offer the most convenient ways to get from the Cancún International Airport to Playa del Carmen. Getting around: The resort is located about five minutes outside of Playa del Carmen and close to historic Mayan ruins. Club Royale - Once a week the resort's theater offers dinner and a show.

Amenity highlights: In addition to the main pool by the beach, the Royal Hideaway offers three "relaxation pools" in secluded locations that have sundecks and are paired by cool-water spas. Another hot tub is near the main pool. By the Caribbean's turquoise water, acres of powdery, light-gold sand, palm trees, and thatched-roof palapas entice guests for sunbathing, beach volleyball, beach soccer, and—a unique treat—beach darts. Attendants pass chilled towels and serve fruit around the main pool.
